Women are powerful. Vibrant. Mysterious. Soft. Strong. Inherently sexy. What I enjoy most about my work in boudoir is having an opportunity to help women feel (and embrace) how truly beautiful they are. I've been tremendously fortunate to work with a variety of females in all ages and stages of life, with various reasons for doing a boudoir session. Every session has been unique and memorable.
I wanted to take a moment to address something that has come up with some frequency of late. I’ve received several inquiries from girls with the same concern – here’s a recent example:
"Hi Sara -
Your boudoir photography is incredible. :-) I really want to do something similar but I'm kinda shy, and this really is NOT like me to do at all. Which is why I think it would be such an awesome surprise for my husband... but... I'm nervous! I am sooooo not a model, and I've been working hard at the gym to lose some extra weight so maybe I should wait until then? I have no idea how to pose or what to wear, or anything. What do you think?
Thank you,
M."
Here's what I think.
I think you're gorgeous. Yes, you. With your freckles and crooked teeth and that extra 15 lbs. I think the way you look down at your hands and chew on your lower lip when you're uncertain is a sincerely stunning sight to behold. So, too, is the "eat shit and die, I don't believe you for a second," glare you will give me when I tell you so in person. Whether you wear a t-shirt, a slinky dress, stockings and high heels, a negligee, or nothing at all... there is simply nothing sexier in the world than a woman who is embodying herself. Her. SELF. A woman who is laughing, and having fun, and using all her senses, and savoring the moment she is in, and daring herself to explore another aspect of who she is... is a force to be reckoned with.
Why is boudoir beautiful?
It's not because I use expensive camera equipment.
It's not because the girl is a model and brought a high-end wardrobe along.
It's not because I have 13 light sources, 8 backdrops and an assistant.
It's not because I Photoshop the everlovin' hell out of my images.
(Dirty little secret: I don't even use Photoshop. True story.)

Boudoir is beautiful, because women are beautiful. It's that simple.
My greatest privilege and particular gift is finding that which is so beautiful and real and remarkable... coaxing it out... and capturing it. So you just show up - and be you. Yes, YOU.
And I promise you that magic will happen. You'll see.
